Hello, I’m Emily. My wonderful husband, Alex, has been my partner for over a decade. Alex, a Chinese immigrant, captivated me with his warmth and charisma. He works in the technology sector, a field he has always been passionate about. On the other hand, I am an accountant, which means both of us lead rather busy lives. While shopping one day, mentally ticking off items from my list, I accidentally bumped into someone. To my surprise, it was my Aunt Linda, her arms full of groceries. “Emily! It’s so good to see you!” she exclaimed, her face lighting up with genuine delight.

With a deep sigh, she asked, “Is it true what I’ve heard about you?” My heart sank. “What do you mean?” I asked, dreading her response. “Your mom told me that you’ve become a con artist and that Alex is involved because of his tech skills. I didn’t believe it, but…”

I was stunned. “Aunt Linda, that’s completely untrue! None of it is true!” Tears welled up in my eyes as I struggled to comprehend this revelation. I knew I had to confront this head-on. I immediately called my parents, and as soon as their faces appeared on the screen, I didn’t hold back. “Why are you telling people we’re con artists, Mom and Dad? Aunt Linda just told me everything.”

Their expressions were unreadable. “Because you told us so,” my dad said flatly, staring directly at the camera. “No, I never said that!” I shot back, my anger boiling over. “What makes you think you can say that about us?”

Mom refused to engage, leaving the room as Dad’s tone grew harsher. “You must have forgotten,” he said abruptly, trying to change the subject. The conversation ended without any resolution, leaving me confused and hurt. They kept insisting that I had said it, trying to downplay the situation by saying, “No one thinks less of you because of it.” How could they think I would ever say such a thing?

Many stray and neglected dogs go ungroomed, causing them distress as their fur becomes tangled and matted. But a haircut can make all the difference.

That was the case recently, after one dog covered in severely matted fur got a makeover that’s given him a new lease on life.

On July 16, the South Plains SPCA shared a post about the “worst case of dog neglect we have ever encountered.” A 6-year-old dog was covered in extremely matted, thick fur, and was in poor shape.

“The dog has rotten skin spots, hair matted to the skin so bad it is in grown into the skin, the nails are 2 inches long,” the SPCA reported.

“His hair growth was about five years of matting,” said Kim Moyers, president of the South Plains SPCA, told KLBK-TV. “It’s just awful that he was probably seen in different places and overlooked. I don’t see how he hasn’t been seen roaming in the condition he was. I’ve never seen anything like him. It was shocking.”

The South Plains SPCA took him in and named him Matt, after his matted fur. Despite the terrible condition they found him in, they resolved to fix him up and give him a second chance.

Matt reportedly yelped with pain every time they tried to cut his hair, so they had to sedate him. They cut through a collar and leash that was embedded in the hair, and shaved off a whopping three pounds of fur — the result of five years of neglect.

“There were thousands of goathead stickers, sticks, grass and even beetles matted in his fur. He has severe bruises on his body from his fur being tight on his skin,” the SPCA wrote. The dog was anemic and placed on medication, though he was found to be heartworm negative and free of tick disease (as ticks couldn’t have gotten through his thick fur.)

Matt still has a lengthy road of recovery ahead, and he will need dental work once his blood work indicates that it’s safe.

But after removing all that gross fur, Matt’s life has already changed in a huge way and he’s looking like a whole new dog:

“After we had one of our professional groomers — who’s also an SPCA foster — groom him, he looked amazing,” Houston told People. “He is the most gorgeous-looking dog I’ve ever seen. He’s just drop-dead gorgeous.”

The SPCA said Matt was a “sweet boy” after waking up from his grooming, and since then he’s been getting a taste of a happy, normal life.

“He went for his very first walk without his bulk of hair in probably five years,” Houston told KLBK. “His little bottom was just going back and forth, his tail was wagging and he was so happy.”

Matt is currently being fostered by Tori Houston, and will be placed up for adoption once he has recovered.

What a stunning transformation! It’s heartbreaking that Matt was neglected for so long and suffered with all that matted fur on him, but we’re glad he’s finally safe, groomed and on his way to a new life!

It is improbable that any of us can properly predict the results of our actions. Although our intentions appear to be noble, everything eventually goes wrong.

Of course, we can try to make things right with the person or turn it into a comedy, but  sometimes the conclusion is unavoidable. My hubby gave me shower gel for my birthday.

It turned out that he had put the ring in the bottle cap. He wanted to surprise me. So he had to get it from the toilet himself.

He needs answers!”After a few seconds of silence, Mom finally spoke. Her voice was thick with emotion as she began to explain. “Oh, Courtney, I’m so sorry,” she cried. “When we were young, Steve wanted to go to aviation school and become a pilot. But then I got pregnant with you… and… and I knew that if he found out, he would give up his dreams to be with us…””I couldn’t let him do that,” she continued after a pause. “So, I left without telling him.

I thought it was the right thing to do at the time, but I can see now how much it’s hurt all of us.” Steve’s face crumpled as he listened. “Melissa,” he choked out, “I… I loved you so much. I would have done anything for you and our child… Why didn’t you trust me?””Steve? Oh my…” Mom gasped. “I… I thought I was protecting you. I was scared. I’m sorry, Steve. I’m so, so sorry.” I felt like my head was spinning.

All these years, my mom had lied to me about my father’s fate, and now here he was, a complete stranger, pouring his heart out to both of us. I couldn’t process it all. “Mom, this is… this is a lot to take in,” I stammered. “I’m already late for the big meeting with the investors… I don’t know how I’ll get to LA now.”Steve’s eyes widened as I mentioned the investors.

“You’re going to LA? What’s the meeting about?”I quickly explained the details to Steve. I told him how I was supposed to present a major project to secure a big promotion at work.

A UPS driver has been hailed by cops in Franklin County, Missouri, for saving a woman who had allegedly been beaten by her husband and held captive in her home for 15 hours.

According to court documents obtained by KMOV, the abuse started in their home near Robertsville, and the husband beat her, sexually abused her, held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her before he dragged her back into the house by her hair when she attempted to run away.

Court records state that he took her phone and then locked her and their 3-year-old child in a room with no food or water the entire time.

When the UPS driver showed up at the house in the morning to pick up a package, he saw the “contact 911” message the woman had written on the box before answering the door and handing it over.

The driver drove off and then called police. Deputies responded to the home, rescued the woman and child and arrested the husband. Fortunately, the child was unharmed.

“He made a huge difference,” Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant T.J. Wild told KMOV.

The husband’s identity has been kept secret to avoid revealing the woman’s identity. He was charged with domestic assault, sodomy, felonious restraint, unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

A cash bond of $100,000 was set.

Tragically, 34-year-old Courtney Ann Sanford, who was regarded as an experienced driver, perished in an automobile accident.

Sleep aromatherapy

I teach that having to wake up in the middle of the night to urinate is not a good indicator as a pelvic floor physical therapist.

As a patient admits to waking up once, twice, or three times a night to use the restroom, I told them about bladder irritants, the importance of being hydrated before bed, and the way to “retrain” their bladder through habits.

While all of these things are important to keep focusing on, there’s also another reason we shouldn’t be getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom: it indicates that we aren’t entering the crucial REM (rapid eye movement) cycle!

Our bodies, throughout REM, go through a number of amazing things. It is a crucial sleep stage that affects mood, memory, and learning.

During this period, antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is also secreted. The primary function of ADH is to minimize the amount of water excreted through urine, thus conserving your body’s fluid capacity.

We urinate less and secrete more ADH when fluid needs to be stored rather than lost. ADH secretion diminishes, and we urinate at the regular frequency (every two to three hours, with a strong flow lasting eight to twelve seconds) when we are well hydrated.

ADH not only contributes significantly to hydration, but it also has a major impact on our capacity to sleep at night!

An adult who drinks enough water should need to go potty every two to three hours. Thus, how are we expected to sleep for more than eight hours at a time without having to urinate?

ADH REM sleep induces an increase in the production of ADH, which in turn reduces the volume of urine produced. This results in less frequent urination and, presto!

We can now go to sleep without urinating!

In conclusion, if you have trouble getting into your REM sleep cycle, you won’t secrete as much ADH, your urine production will remain at the “daytime” pace, and you will eventually need to urinate at night.

To solve this, develop healthy sleeping habits, which will help you enter your REM cycle, produce more ADH, and avoid having to wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. You might unavoidably need to get up to urinate if you drink 32 ounces of water an hour before going to bed.

In addition, alcohol inhibits the release of ADH, which increases the production of urine and dehydrates the body.

Therefore, it’s possible that if you have a glass of wine before going to bed, you will need to urinate during the night.

Suggestions for Good Sleep Habits:

1. Establish a regular sleep routine: Go to bed at approximately the same time every night.

2. Establish nightly routines: meditate, take a bath, or listen to music. These ought to be soothing pursuits that help you signal to your body when it’s time to sleep.

3. Exercise on a regular basis for at least two hours before going to bed.

4. Cut back on stimulants. Nicotine and coffee are stimulants that will disrupt your sleep, so cut back on both. Try to cut back on caffeine after twelve. Initially, withdrawal from nicotine will make it difficult to fall asleep. But once the withdrawal stage passes, research suggests that you should be able to sleep better.

5. Don’t eat just before going to bed. Aim for a minimum of two hours of dinner before going to bed. But research has shown that having a small snack before bed helps people sleep better.

6. Steer clear of alcohol: while it acts as a sedative and helps you fall asleep at first, it will disrupt your sleep, causing you to wake up more frequently and maybe experiencing more nightmares.

7. To make it simpler for you to fall asleep, take brief naps during the day to accumulate “sleep debt.”

8. Only use your bedroom for sleeping and having *e*! Aim to avoid using devices, eating, or watching TV in bed. Instead of connecting your bedroom with activities that could cause tension, you want to identify it with sleeping.

9. Put an end to screen time. Using screens—TV, phones, tablets, and laptops—two hours before bed can throw off our biological clock. Our brains are “confused” by the light emission, leading us to believe it is daytime.

10. Make sure that your bedroom is cozy, peaceful, and cool!

There are loads of personality tests circulating around today. They can vary greatly, and in some of their most simplistic forms, they may ask you to look at an image and say what color or shape you see first.

The latter is exactly what this test I recently stumbled upon asks you to do — and based on my personal results, I found it interesting indeed and thus had to share.

This is a relatively ‘simpler’ personality test that is believed to say a thing or two about your personality.

The woman finally went to the doctor and they looked at the bump closer. They treated it with antibiotics but after Kopp was sent home and there were no signs of improvement, Kopp went back. Eventually she ended up in the ER where the doctors determined that Kopp would need to have surgery to deal with this out of control infection! Later they discovered that bacteria from Kopp’s hair tie she wore around her wrist had seeped through her pores creating an infection!

A New Hampshire police officer broke into a car to rescue a baby locked inside, only to discover it was a lifelike doll.

Keene police Lt. Jason Short was called to a Wal-Mart for a report of a baby locked inside of a car in the parking lot on July 23, reports WMUR. 

Because it was a hot day, Short decided immediately upon seeing feet sticking out from under a blanket that he needed to break the window to rescue the baby.

After Short had broken into the car and pulled the blanket away, he thought the child was dead, so he breathed into its mouth, but the lungs did not inflate. He then realized that the baby was, in fact, a realistic-looking doll and that its mouth did not open. He canceled the call for an ambulance.

When Short found the owner of the doll, Carolynne Seiffert, who was getting her hair cut in Super Cuts during the incident, she told the officer that it was designed to look as much as a real baby as possible. Short said the doll even felt like a real baby when he picked it up.

Seiffert had purchased the doll, named Ainslie from a doll nursery for $2,300 the week before the incident, according to Sentinel Source. The doll, called a “reborn” doll, is handcrafted from silicone so it looks as realistic as possible. Seiffert has a collection of reborn dolls.

She says she plans to put a sticker on her car to alert others that the babies inside the car are not real.

I’m 49 and just got out of a 20-year marriage with Isabel, or “Izzy”. The relationship had completely flatlined, and honestly, my wife seemed just as done with it as I was. So, after the split, I started dating a woman named Jenna.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are calling on President-elect Donald Trump and running mate Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, to be leaders for the entire nation.

“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ran a positive, forward-looking campaign to be proud of,” the Clintons said in a statement, The Hill reported Thursday. “The American people have voted, and Donald Trump and J.D. Vance will be the next president and vice president of the United States. We wish them well and hope they will govern for all of us.”

Their statement, coming less than a day after Trump was declared the winner of the election, also offered their message of unity, with the Clintons urging the United States to move forward.

“We must remember that America is bigger than the results of any one election, and what we as citizens do now will make the difference between a nation that moves forward or one that falls back,” they wrote. “We need to solve our problems and seize our opportunities together. The future of our country depends on it.”

Hillary Clinton also lost her bid against Trump in her 2016 election and became a strong supporter of Harris’ campaign.

Former president George W. Bush has broken his silence on the 2024 presidential race.

The 43rd president was the recipient of harsh criticism, especially as Election Day neared, as he remained quiet throughout the campaign season.

It wasn’t until Wednesday at 11 a.m. that Bush spoke on the historic election.

“I congratulate President Trump on his election as 47th President of the United States of America, as well as Vice President-elect JD Vance and their families,” he said in a statement.

Bush, 78, also briefly, thanked President Biden and Vice President Harris for their service before continuing to praise the “strong turnout” at the polls.

“Laura and I are grateful to the election officials, poll workers, and volunteers who oversaw a free and fair election,” he wrote. “We join our fellow citizens in praying for the success of our new leaders at all levels of government. May God continue to bless our great country.”

While Bush turned off the comments on his Instagram post, the statement, which was also shared on X received hundreds of comments. Some praised the former president for keeping his opinion to himself, while others blamed him for not speaking up.

After spending more than $200,000 on face and body transformations, Tara McConachy, 33, whose plastic upgrades are shocking some fans, is still looking for the “wow factor.”

A growing trend across the world, McConachy is one of millions worldwide, trying to achieve perfection.

At 5 foot 7 and only 100 pounds, including all her fillers and implants, the self-proclaimed “Australia’s Limited Edition Barbie Doll,” has had five breast augmentations, six nose jobs, eyes recolored to a “vibrant green,” cheek and butt implants, and endless rounds of Botox and filler.

Her body measurements, she says, are 37-17-29.

In comparison, if Barbie were a real-life woman, she’d be 5 foot 9 (wearing heels), with measurements of 39-18-33.

McConachy’s addiction to plastic surgery started when she was 20 and her father, who “just wanted (her) to be happy,” gave her new breasts and lips for her birthday.

“After I had the procedure, it was almost like a feeling of euphoria came over me and I was just hooked,” she said. “I am obsessed with the industry of aesthetics, it’s just everything I think about. Like, I eat, I breathe, I dream about it. If you can modify your body, why not?”

She added: “Anywhere you can put filler, I will literally put it in my face.”

Revealing that she’s been turned away several times from doctors who refuse to further enhance her already enormous breasts, Jayne, a cosmetic nurse and Instagram model, hatched a new plan, which had her appearing on season six of Botched with Hollywood surgeons, Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif.

“I’m on a quest for a bigger chest,” she said on the show. “I just love attention so I thought getting plastic surgery and having bigger boobs–that’s going to be the wow factor, it’s going to be exactly what I need.”

But the doctors tactfully explained that she has “very low body fat,” and that her BMI (body mass index) is “dangerously low.”

“I have about five doctors. So if one says no, I’ll go to any of the other four. And if they say no I’ll just get someone else,” she confessed. “I always hear that I have too little body fat. But what I always tell people is that I look at food as a way of survival instead of enjoyment. But I’m still a bit extreme sometimes.”

Jayne, who said she previously had about 1000cc (cubic centimeters) in her breasts, reduced the size to 540cc when she experienced back problems. When she was on the show however, she was ready to go large again.

“You put 1000cc on that body?” Dubrow asked, looking at her tiny frame.

Nassif and Dubrow refused to do more surgery on her, saying she was far too small to carry the weight of such large implants. “You (got to) gain some weight…I’m worried about your health,” Dr. Nassif said, suggesting he was mostly concerned with her mental health.

Rejected in Hollywood, the Daily Mail reports that Jayne is heading to Turkey later this year, to increase her breast size.

“…There’s always improvements that can be made, which is why I’m heading to Turkey for another round of surgeries. With me, it’s not a case of less is more. Of all the foods you were likely to find at the back of the pantry in your grandma or grandpa’s house, SPAM might be the most iconic.

A staple of households for many decades, the canned meat has split opinion over the years, and not just because of its (in my point of view) unappealing appearance. No, there’s a deal of mystery surrounding SPAM, which one could argue has done more for its PR than any clever marketing scheme ever could.

So what actually is SPAM? Where did it originate? What secrets are forced into that tiny can along with the meat? Well, we’ve done a bit of digging and compiled some handy information for you… so read on for more.

What is SPAM?

SPAM was introduced to the world by Hormel Foods Corporation – an American multinational food processing company – back in 1937, and rose to worldwide popularity due to its use before and during World War II, when rations were enforced and usual food stuffs were harder to come by.

Interestingly, what SPAM actually stands remains a point of heated discussion. Further adding to the mystery we mentioned earlier, there are differing opinions as the acronym.

For example, some sources claim that SPAM stands for Specially Processed American Meat, while others will tell you that it stands instead for Shoulder of Pork and Ham. Other phrases such as “Salt Preserves Any Meat” have been bandied around the internet, while “Spiced Ham” has been thrown into the mix as a possible explanation.

The official line is… well, there isn’t an official line, which makes the whole thing even more enigmatic, and therefore interesting.

That said, the subject of the famous letters has been debated for decades. Time reported that one Ken Daigneau, the brother of a Hormel executive, dreamed up the word SPAM as a portmanteau (a word combining the meanings of two others) for spiced ham during a naming contest, thereby winning a $100 prize (a not-insignificant sum in the late 1930s).

Company founder Jay Hormel told New Yorker writer Brendan Gill back in 1945: “I knew then and there that the name was perfect.”

As luck would have it, the ingredients of SPAM are not nearly so difficult to get clued in on. The New York post claim they entail a simple assemblage of pork, water, salt, potato starch, sugar, and sodium nitrate.

The Hormel Foods website explains that: “Toward the end of the Great Depression, SPAM helped fill a huge need for inexpensive meat products. And its popularity only grew.”

Its importance was then cemented during the Second World War, and it remains a popular food stable today.

How is SPAM made?

I doubt I am the only one here who was curious as to what SPAM is actually made of. I’ve heard my share of horror stories over the years, and though none of them have ever convinced me to stop eating the stuff, I must admit I’ve had periods where I’ve wondered if there was some mystery ingredient I should be aware of.

Turns out that method of producing SPAM is just as simple as the ingredient list. Hormel Foods say that ground-up pork and ham are mixed with the other ingredients for 20 minutes. They’re then put into cans, which are in turn vacuum-sealed. Then the cans are cooked and then cooled for three hours, after which time they’re ready to receive their iconic labels.
