Bears are among the most majestic creatures on Earth — in my view, they belong in the wild and nowhere else.

And when you read the story of these bears, it only strengthens that belief.

For ten long years, two brown bears, Misha and Dasha, endured a heartbreaking existence in a cramped metal cage outside a restaurant in Armenia.

Their only purpose? To serve as tourist attractions. With no space to roam and nothing to stimulate their minds, they spent their days pacing in circles, climbing the bars, or banging their heads against the metal — desperate for any form of relief from their monotonous and cruel reality.

As if their captivity wasn’t bad enough, their cage was positioned dangerously close to a riverbank, leaving them at the mercy of seasonal floods. One year, disaster nearly struck when rising waters engulfed their tiny prison. The helpless bears came within inches of drowning, trapped behind iron bars with no way to escape.

”A few years back, the river flooded, and the bears almost drowned,” said Lis Key, PR and communications manager for International Animal Rescue (IAR). ”The rescue team had to cut through the cages to release them, so they must have been trapped when the river flooded and in serious danger of drowning.”

For years, IAR fought tirelessly to secure their freedom, working alongside the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) to convince the restaurant owners to release them. Finally, their relentless efforts paid off.

The rescue team arrived, armed with tools to cut through the cold steel that had imprisoned Misha and Dasha for a decade.

Once freed, the bears were sedated and transported to a sanctuary nestled in the mountains — a place where they could finally experience the life they had been cruelly denied. There, for the first time, they had the freedom to roam, explore, and simply be bears.

And then, something extraordinary happened. As winter approached, Misha and Dasha settled into a cave to hibernate. But when spring arrived, they emerged with a surprise — Dasha had given birth to two cubs!

Rescuers were stunned. No one had realized that Dasha was pregnant at the time of her rescue. “She received all necessary care after being rescued, enough fruits, veggies, nuts, and honey to gain weight and fat before hibernation … but nobody guessed her good appetite was a result of pregnancy,” said Vicky Mkrtchyan, environmental projects coordinator for FPWC.

Dasha, once a symbol of captivity and suffering, had become a devoted mother, fiercely protecting and nurturing her cubs in the safety of their new home.
“It was already uplifting to see Dasha freed from the barren cage by the river and start to take an interest in life and in her surroundings,” Mkrtchyan added. “Now, seeing her with her two little cubs is simply beautiful. It is so moving to reflect on her miserable life behind bars and then look at her now — a natural mother caring for her cubs, protecting them fiercely from the outside world.”

From a life of suffering to a future filled with hope, Misha and Dasha’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of dedicated animal rights organizations. Their story reminds us that no animal should be subjected to a life of misery for human entertainment.

Hunter Metcalf choked back his tears as he explained the heartbreaking moment he desperately tried to stop the blood from gushing from the heart of his twin brother Austin, who was stabbed to death at a high school track meet.

On April 2, about 10 a.m., Hunter was with his twin brother Austin, a star athlete who was competing in discus throw and shot-put events at a track meet, held at the David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

“We did everything together. You name anything in the world, it’s always us two. We were always basically one person,” Hunter said of him and Austin, the football MVP for the team the two played.

Hunter, born four minutes after Austin, explained that him and his twin – both juniors at Memorial High School outside Dallas – were in the school’s tent when a student from another school decided to enter.

“This kid was sitting under out tent at track, we asked him to move. He started getting aggressive and talking reckless and my brother stepped in and said, ‘you need to move,’” Hunter told ABC affiliate WFAA in a heartbreaking interview. “And he’s like, ‘Make me move.’

‘I tried to help him’
According to a witness, the other student – identified as Anthony Karmel from Centennial High School – told Austin, “touch me and see what happens.” Then he allegedly reached into his backpack and pulled out a black knife and stabbed the twin once in the chest before running away.

“I tried to whip around as fast as I could. I didn’t see the stab…but then I looked at my brother… and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him,” a teary-eyed Hunter said, adding that tried to save his brother’s life by stopping the blood.

“I tried to help him.”

He held his twin until first responders arrived and attempted resuscitation.

“They yanked me off him,” Hunter said, who added he wasn’t allowed to ride in the ambulance with his brother.

The twin’s dad, Jeff Metcalf, took Hunter to the hospital.

‘Died in brothers arms’
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” Metcalf told NBC of his son, who he described on a GoFundMe campaign as “a bright young man” whose “smile would light up the room.”

Metcalf continued, “I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney, and I could tell – they said he wasn’t breathing. I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital…”

Despite lifesaving measures by emergency personnel, Austin died of his injuries.

‘Big brother’
“I saw him for his last moments…he knew how much I loved him…I [would] do for him anything, no matter what. I always told him I want to be just like him I always looked up to him. He was a big brother even though we’re the same age.”

“I don’t know why someone would do that to someone just over that little argument,” Hunter said of the tragic incident. “He was a strong man. He was strong, strong kid…I’m strong too but he’s a little stronger. He [was] just always there for me so it’s really heartbreaking to see how this happened.”

‘Stud’
Hunter also shared how he’ll miss his “big brother” on the field next season when football starts.

“He was a stud, and I always try to fill those shoes and play with him. I had a blast playing sports with him my whole life…me and him always against people. Our last year together was this year. It’s really heartbreaking to not see him next year on the field,” he said of Austin, a star linebacker. “He was a great guy overall it’s just really hard to see someone go like that…for like recklessness”

Speaking of Karmelo, Hunter said “I’ve never met this kid in my entire life” until the “30 second” “altercation,” that ended in the death of his brother.

‘I did it’
ABC reports that after Karmelo tossed the weapon into the bleachers and was taken out of the stadium, he told police, “I’m not alleged, I did it.”

The affidavit reveals that Karmelo also reportedly asked police if Metcalf was going to be okay while he was in the back of the squad car. He also claimed it was self defense.

The 17-year-old of Frisco, Texas, “is charged with murder, a 1st Degree Felony.” The bond has been set to $1,000,000.

According to Patrick McNamara, associate Professor of neurology and psychiatry at the Boston University School, there is a particular term for dreams about dead people – visitation dreams.

It means that the deceased person is visiting you in your dream, or as McNamara explains it: “Dreams of the bereaved where the dead appear to the bereaved in dreams and look to be very much alive.”

The 67-year-old neuroscientist is an active blogger at Psychology Today, under his alias, Dream Catcher. Over the years, McNamara has often shared his thoughts and findings about dreams and their meaning. And visitation dreams usually have a logical explanation, according to him.

They help you cope with your grief, loss, and sorrow.

In one of his blog posts, he talks about a dream he had when his parents passed away. The dream was a so-called visitation dream, and after that, McNamara began to argue that these dreams were a sign of life after death.

“Now if I, an individual who studied dreams with a skeptical scientific cast of mind, could not shake the conviction that I had just communicated with my dead parents, how much stronger must be the conviction of someone with a less skeptical approach to dreams than me?,” McNamara writes.

Patrick McNamara isn’t the only one who is interested in these dreams, and there have been several studies that dig deeper into this phenomenon.

In 2014, the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care published a study that examined the impact of grief dreams. The study found that “dreams of the deceased occur frequently, can be highly meaningful and further healing from a loss.”

Themes in the dreams included “past memories or experiences, the deceased free of illness, memories of the deceased’s illness or time of death, the deceased in the afterlife appearing healthy, comfortable and at peace as well as the deceased communicating a message.”

In 2016, a team of Canadian researchers did an analysis of people sleeping and having dreams from 76 bereaved middle-aged individuals. According to the study, 67.1% of the bereaved sample said that their dreams of the deceased helped them believe more in an afterlife. Around 70% characterized their dreams of the deceased as “visitations,” and 71% revealed that dreams of the deceased helped them feel more connected with the deceased.

Psychologist Jennifer E. Shorter from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA, has also done research on our brains and what we dream.

In her study called “Visitation Dreams in Grieving Individuals: A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Relationship Between Dreams and the Grieving,” she writes that it’s unknown how many people are experiencing visitation dreams.

But it can happen close to or long after a person has died. In her research, she has concluded that four factors characterize a visitation dream:

1. The people in your sleep when you have visitation dream look like they did when they were alive, although often healthier or younger.

2. The deceased often says something about how they are now, for example, that they are fine.

3. The message in the dream is experienced more telepathically than in the form of physical presence.

4. The dream is often calm and organized, almost harmonious.

Among voters aged 18 to 29, his approval has surged by 13 points since March 7. Additionally, Trump experienced a six-point boost in favorability among Democrats and independents, according to the survey, DailyMail.com reported.

Notably, his support among black voters soared by 17 points since last week. Furthermore, when it comes to his universal 10 percent tariff on all imported goods, more Americans support the policy than oppose it.

The poll revealed that 36 percent of respondents support Trump’s 10 percent minimum tariff, while only 28 percent oppose it, with the remaining 36 percent undecided. And when asked about increasing tariffs on all imported goods, 39 percent of registered voters were in favor, compared to 37 percent against, and 24 percent remained unsure.

Support for broad tariffs targeting China and the European Union has also risen since last month. Additionally, voters expressed general backing for tariffs on specific sectors, including aircraft, plastics, precious metals, iron, and steel.

Meanwhile, nations are stepping up and responding to the tariffs by offering to lower or eliminate theirs on U.S. imports.

Trump announced on Friday that Vietnamese leader To Lam is willing to eliminate tariffs to avoid punishing new U.S. duties imposed on the Southeast Asian nation’s imports.

“Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S. I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future,” Trump wrote.

“News of the call, which Trump posted about on social media, sent stocks of companies that make some of their goods in Vietnam higher. Shares in Nike, for example, jumped more than 4%. The Trump administration had levied tariffs of 46% on Vietnam earlier this week. Trump said Friday he looked forward to meeting with To Lam in the near future,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

Nearly 100 days into his presidency, American employers and job board leaders have given Trump a very favorable report card, saying they believe the economy “can win now,” even though, as they note, it hasn’t “started to win yet.”

“I would give President Trump, right now, a pretty solid B+,” FIG Strategy & Consulting founder, author and Freedom Economy Index (FEI) respondent TaChelle Lawson told Fox News Digital.

“He came in with a very clear plan, and that was focusing on economics. He’s definitely putting business first, trimming the fat. That’s something that small business owners, business operators understand and respect. I think that it’s clear that his focus is on American business,” she added. “I do, however, think that the messaging could use a little bit of work.”

Lawson is one of over 50,000 small business owners who took part in the latest quarterly survey by RedBalloon and PublicSquare. The survey revealed that more than two-thirds of respondents now expect the economy to experience either “slow” or “robust” growth throughout the year—a complete turnaround from the previously negative outlook, Fox Business reported.

“What we’re seeing right now is we have a very sick economy, and it needs some very strong medicine. And if it gets that medicine, we all feel like we have a very strong economy that will win and will actually be a huge blessing to the entire world,” RedBalloon CEO Andrew Crapuchettes also told Fox.

“Because when the U.S. economy is strong, when small businesses in the U.S. economy are strong, we feel like we can have a disproportionate and positive impact on the entire planet,” he continued. “There’s a lot of good work that’s being done, but that work still needs to be done for the economy to actually get better.”

“These small businesses are now feeling like we’re coming up on the 100-day mark of Trump’s presidency. They love the fact that one of the things that President Trump and this administration more broadly is tackling is the overregulation, the red tape seeded in bureaucracy that seeks to stifle business growth,” PublicSquare CEO Michael Seifert added.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has provided a timeline for when he expects to step away from his role in the Trump administration as chief adviser to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In an interview last week with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Musk said he was on pace to leave his post in May, 130 days after he began. He said the goal of slashing federal spending was averaging “$4 billion a day, every day, seven days a week,” with a goal of trimming $1 trillion annually.

If Musk’s rate of $4 billion per day remains consistent, it would total $520 billion within the 130 days he is legally permitted to work as an unpaid special government employee, the New York Post reported.

“This is a revolution. And I think it might be the biggest revolution in government since the original revolution. But at the end of the day, America is going to be in much better shape. America will be solvent. The critical programs that people depend upon will work, and it’s going to be a fantastic future. But are we going to get a lot of complaints along the way?” he said. “Absolutely.”

“You know, one of the things I learned at PayPal was, you know who complains the loudest and with the most amount of fake righteous indignation? The fraudsters. It’s a tell. There are some NGOs that are crazy, like the $2 billion to Stacey Abrams’s NGO that basically didn’t exist and suddenly gets $2 billion awarded from the federal government. She says, why? And there are many such cases like that,” he said.

“I think that most people, common sense-wise, would say, the fraud’s got to end. They’re concerned about the 94-year-old mother who skips a check or somehow doesn’t get what she’s supposed to get,” Baier noted..

“Right. And what we’re trying to say is actually that the 94-year-old grandmother is actually, as a result of DOGE’s work, going to get her check. She’s not going to be robbed by fraudsters like she’s getting robbed today,” Musk said.

“And the solvency of the federal government will ensure that she continues to receive those Social Security checks, that Medicare continues to work, without which we’re all doomed. And the reason we’re doing this is because if we don’t do it, America is going to go insolvent. We’re going to go bankrupt. And nobody’s going to get anything,” he added.

“Unless this exercise is successful, the ship of America will sink,” Musk told Baier. “That’s why we’re doing it.”

Aram Moghaddassi, a software engineer at DOGE, discussed the reforms being implemented at the Social Security Administration in response to reports of website issues affecting the 68 million Americans who receive retirement, disability, and survivor benefits.

“I’ll say the two improvements that we’re trying to make to Social Security are helping people that legitimately get benefits — protect them from fraud that they experience every day on a routine basis — and also make the experience better,” the engineer said.

“When you want to change your bank account, you can call Social Security. We learned 40% of the phone calls that they get are from fraudsters” who are trying to steal payments, he said.

That led Musk to interject: “In fact, what we’re doing will help their benefits. Legitimate people, as a result of the work of DOGE, will receive more Social Security, not less. I want to emphasize that, as a result of the work of DOGE, legitimate recipients of Social Security will receive more money, not less money.”

Joe Gebbia, cofounder of Airbnb and a fellow billionaire, discussed his work with DOGE on digitizing the retirement process for government employees, which is currently conducted on paper, limiting retirements to about 8,000 per month.

“It’s an injustice to civil servants who are subjected to these processes that are older than the age of half the people watching the show tonight,” Gebbia said.

“We really believe that the government can have an Apple store-like experience — beautifully designed, great user experience, modern systems.”

Fish can be an excellent part of a healthy diet, providing important nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids which can lower your risk for diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, and dementia, age-related macular degeneration, and rheumatoid arthritis, among others. However, there are certain fish you should never eat. Unfortunately, because of human industrial activity like coal-fired electricity generation, smelting, and the incineration of waste, large amounts of mercury are ending up in our waterways, and subsequently, the fish that swim in them. As this mercury gets into the marine food chain, it “bioaccumulates.”

This means that when smaller fish get eaten by gradually larger fish, the concentration of mercury at each level becomes greater. Consuming too much mercury can be not safe to your health, and cause mercury poisoning. For this reason, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have issued guidelines regarding how much mercury is safe for humans to ingest, and the non-profit Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), provides suggestions for which fish you shouldn’t eat.

1. Tilapia

Did you know that in some regards, eating tilapia is worse than eating bacon? In fact, the shift to eating more farmed fish like tilapia is leading to highly inflammatory diets, according to a 2008 study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

Wake Forest University School of Medicine researchers say tilapia is one of the most widely consumed fish in America. The problem with that? It contains very low levels of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and, perhaps worse, very high levels of inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids.

Sustaining high levels of inflammation in the body can worsen symptoms of autoimmune disorders and may be linked to chronic conditions like heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

If you must eat this fish, avoid tilapia from China, where farming practices are particularly worrisome. Better sources are the U.S., Canada, the Netherlands, Ecuador and Peru.

Of course, wild-caught tilapia is preferable to farmed fish but is very hard to find.

1.1 Atlantic Cod

The issue with Atlantic cod is more about the environment and fish populations than human health. This species has been heavily fished for over a thousand years, and by the late 1990s, the fishery collapsed. While fishing for Atlantic cod has significantly decreased since then, the population has had difficulty recovering. Experts agree that the collapse of the fishery has caused lasting changes to the North Atlantic food web, and the species is now classified as vulnerable to extinction.

2. Atlantic Flatfish (halibut, flounder, and sole)

This is yet another example of overfishing and waste. Commercial fisheries produce what’s known as “wasted bycatch,” which occurs when fish or other marine species are unintentionally caught while targeting different species. Every year, U.S. fisheries discard approximately 2 billion pounds of bycatch, which is the equivalent of half a billion meals! The California gillnet fishery, which focuses on halibut, has been singled out as one of the worst offenders. If you’ve eaten halibut in the U.S., there’s a good chance it came from this fishery.

3. Caviar

Caviar comes from the eggs of the Beluga Sturgeon, a centuries-old fish that can live for up to one hundred years. These eggs are in high demand and can fetch thousands of dollars per pound. As a result, the Beluga Sturgeon is now at great risk of extinction. The same threat applies to many other sturgeon species as well.

Eels are slow to mature and have been overfished in many parts of the world, causing some populations to collapse. This is problematic as eels play an important role in spreading mussel populations, which act as natural water filters . 6. Imported Basa, Swai, Tra, Striped Catfish

These fish, in some cases, are simply labeled “catfish”, and should be avoided. According to a 2016 study, seventy to eighty percent of these fish were contaminated by Vibrio Bacteria, which is what causes most cases of shellfish poisoning

There are various pesticides that are used globally in shrimp production. All but one of them are banned in the United States. On top of that, these shrimps have often been treated with large quantities of antibiotics, and so any time you handle these raw shrimp you run the risk of being infected with antibiotic-resistant bacteria

Around three-quarters of all crab sold in the United States is imported from Russia, where unsustainable fishing practices are very common. Technically, the only crab that was caught in Alaska can be called “Alaskan King Crab.” However, mislabelling is incredibly common, so you should know where your crab is coming from. If it says “imported” and “Alaskan” on the label, something is amiss and you should stay away.

9. Orange Roughy

These fish can live for many decades and don’t typically reach se-xu-al maturity until they’re at least twenty years old. They are another species that have been overfished, but due to their very slow reproduction cycles, they have an extremely difficult time recovering. Orange Roughy is also known to have high levels of mercury.

10. Shark

Since sharks have very high levels of mercury. They are also slow to mature and reproduce, and thus overfishing has depleted their populations as well.

11. Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

Bluefin tuna are now considered to be highly vulnerable to extinction. They are also large predatory fish and thus contain high levels of mercury.

12. Swordfish

Another predatory fish, mercury is the main concern here. In reality, the EDF has suggested that women and children avoid swordfish altogether and men consume it no more than once per month.

13. King Mackerel

Both King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel have high levels of mercury and should be avoided, especially by women and children.

14. Grouper

Grouper has moderately high mercury levels and is vulnerable to overfishing [7]. It is also often the target for  seafood fraud. The “grouper” that is for sale is may actually be a cheaper form of fish that is being mislabeled. One study found that up to 87% of seafood like grouper, cod, and snapper may be mislabeled

A Note on The Role of Selenium in Mercury Toxicity

If you’re a fan of fish but concerned about mercury toxicity, there’s some good news – many commonly consumed fish are rich in selenium, which may help prevent the absorption of excess mercury. However, there’s a catch. This doesn’t mean you can indulge in as many high-mercury fish as you like. That said, if you do choose to eat fish with higher mercury content occasionally, consuming enough selenium alongside it might help reduce potential negative effects.

The main takeaway is this: If you’re eating fish high in selenium and low to moderately high in mercury, the overall risk is lower. On the other hand, if you’re consuming fish that’s high in mercury but low in selenium (like shark), it’s best to avoid it or eat it very rarely.

This is in front of a line of customers behind her who’d witnessed the whole thing. Because it was still a perfectly good product and I had just started the job, I wasn’t allowed to just refund her and be done with it. After fifteen minutes of her refusing to stop yelling at me, I started to cry.

An older gentleman in the line walked up to her, handed her a refund from his own pocket, and told her to get out and stop mocking a fifteen-year-old for doing her job. ABC’s “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg signed off Thursday’s show by looking into the cameras and delivering another anti-Trump message to viewers.

“Remember, the resistance is real. You’re not alone,” Goldberg told viewers before signing off for the day.

In a prior episode, Goldberg said it was time for Americans to protest and rise up against President Donald Trump and his administration.

“People have to get out and you have to march. You have to start making noise. This is now coming back to us,” Goldberg said on the March 19 episode of “The View,” according to TV Insider.

“The only way people are going to hear how angry you are is if you get out there,” she continued, comparing the anti-Trump movement to the women’s rights and civil rights movements in America.

“This is it. It’s now on us. We have to do it. You want to save your Social Security, you got to get up, and you got to start screaming because the only way they’re going to understand that you’re not going to put up with it is if you don’t put up with it,” Goldberg added.

During the same March 19 show, Goldberg’s co-hosts got into a fierce back-and-forth over Democratic Party infighting.

“The View” hosts have frequently encouraged protests against Trump since he returned to office for his second term.

Democrats are in a ton of trouble when it comes to their own voters, as support for the party has fallen to historic lows.

A report from Politico, which dug into the recent polls, showed disaster for the Democrats, with the news organization saying the left-wing party should be “very afraid.”

“Congressional Democrats have typically enjoyed higher popularity with their voting base than their Republican counterparts. But the trauma of the 2024 presidential election defeat appears to have ruptured that relationship. A review of Quinnipiac University’s annual first-quarter congressional polling reveals that, for the first time in the poll’s history, congressional Democrats are now underwater with their own voters in approval ratings,” Politico said.

The poll showed that 49 percent of Democrat voters disapprove of congressional Democrats while only 40 percent approve.

It is even worse when juxtaposed to last year when 75 percent of their voters approved of them while only 21 percent disapproved.

Politico compared the Democrat collapse to that of the Republican Party before Donald Trump and the MAGA movement came along on the heels of the Tea Party movement that preceded it.

What is worse for Democrats is that their voters do not know if they want to move left or right. A recent Gallup poll showed that 45 percent want the party to be more moderate, whereas 29 percent preferred a more liberal approach, and 22 percent wanted to keep the status quo.

The anger with the party from its voters is that there does not appear to be the same effort to “resist” Trump as there was during his first term.

This all came to a head when Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer of New York and other Democrats voted for cloture on a government funding bill that allowed Republicans to pass the legislation.

The report suggests that longtime Democratic leaders could face serious challenges during the primary season, as incumbents could lose to a new candidate.

“There are 13 Democratic-held Senate seats up for reelection next year — many of them involving veteran senators in the bluest states — raising the prospect of a stream of younger, insurgent candidates more closely aligned with the party base, similar to what the GOP has contended with over the past 15 years,” Politico said.

“A handful of liberal groups have already called for Chuck Schumer to step down as party leader after voting last week for a GOP stopgap funding bill. Democratic House members have also felt the sting of grassroots rage in recent days at town halls marked by testy exchanges with deeply frustrated liberal constituents,” the outlet added.

Schumer has not had the support of some in his party that he used to be able to count on, Politico noted further.

He was criticized by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for his controversial vote with Republicans to prevent a government shutdown.

During a press conference in San Francisco, Pelosi stated that she was confident Schumer would be able to lead the Senate’s Democratic caucus moving forward. However, she contended that the Brooklyn Democrat had made too many compromises to Republicans when he suddenly declared that he would vote to move the government funding bill that the GOP had crafted.

“I myself don’t give away anything for nothing,” Pelosi said. “I think that’s what happened the other day.”

“We could have, in my view, perhaps gotten [Republicans] to agree to a third way,” Pelosi stated, alluding to a desperate plan by congressional Democrats to prolong the current government spending for 30 days while they engage in discussions on a more comprehensive bill.

“They may not have agreed to it, but at least the public would have seen them not agreeing to it — then [Republicans] would have been shutting the government down,” Pelosi argued.

Pelosi pleaded with Senate Democrats hours before last week’s vote to defy Schumer and vote against the six-month spending bill.

New York Attorney General Letitia James delivered a fiery speech at a civil rights event hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton, sharply criticizing President Donald Trump while invoking religious imagery as she accused him of spreading division and eroding the foundations of democracy.

James, who is currently entangled in multiple legal battles with the president, at one point during her speech to the National Action Network event, took the moment to defend diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives (DEI), painting them as catch-all policies.

“DEI is about paid parental leave. DEI is about disabled children,” she said in an elevated tone. “Let them know that they’re not only coming after us, but they’re coming after all of us.”

“Faith and fear can never share the same space,” she shouted. “I’m covered by the blood, and I’m not afraid of Donald Trump! You can come after me, but no enemy, nothing formed against me will perish!”

She also vowed to continue her legal jihad against the president and his administration.

“It’s that stone of hope that gives me a fire in my belly each and every morning,” James said, invoking Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. before taking direct aim at Trump. “It’s that stone of hope that allows me to wake up and to stand to Donald Trump and to say, Donald Trump, I’m not afraid of you.”

She added: “I am not going to disgrace [my ancestors] and disappoint them. I am going to use the law both as a sword and as a shield and challenge Donald Trump… because he represents to me sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

James’s combative approach to Trump is well-established. She has repeatedly taken legal action against him, personally, and his businesses — and, since his reelection, his administration, targeting everything from executive orders to cuts in Title X funding and NIH research grants, making the president a frequent focus of her office.

Most recently, James filed suit over the administration’s move to halt federal family planning funds, denouncing the decision as “cruel and shameful.” She also joined forces with other Democratic attorneys general to challenge Trump’s efforts to scale back DEI-centered medical research and to overhaul election administration through executive orders—actions she condemned as “unconstitutional” and “dangerous.”

Last year, James secured a civil fraud judgment ordering Trump to pay over $450 million. In April 2024, the then-former president moved quickly to block the state from seizing his assets, posting a $175 million bond through Knight Specialty Insurance Company as he appealed the decision.

In February 2025, now-President Trump was back in the spotlight after revoking the security clearances of several individuals, including James.

That same month, Trump’s newly appointed U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, filed a civil lawsuit targeting prominent New York Democrats—among them James and Governor Kathy Hochul—over the state’s immigration policies. The suit focused on New York’s Green Light Law, which permits undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.

In November after he defeated now-former Vice President Kamala Harris, an attorney for the then-president-elect fired back at James after she appeared to warn she could continue to pursue charges against him.

“So here we are. We’ve studied their platforms. We’ve identified certain possibilities, fact patterns. We’ve created contingency plans. So no matter what the next administration throws at us, we’re ready,” she told reporters.

Those comments did not sit well with Trump lawyer Mike Davis, who — during an appearance on conservative podcaster Bennie Johnson’s show — issued a threat of his own.

“Let me just say this to Big Tish James, the New York Attorney General. Following his unconditional pardon from President Biden, Hunter Biden is now facing allegations of owing over $300,000 in unpaid rent to former landlords.

Shaun Maguire, a partner at the venture capital firm Sequoia, reacted to news of the pardon on social media, claiming that the president’s son has accumulated substantial unpaid rent debts amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“So what happens to the $300k+ in back pay rent that Hunter Biden owes my family from 2019-2020? Is that pardoned now? Thanks Joe,” Maguire wrote in a post on X.

On Sunday, President Biden issued a “full and unconditional pardon” for his son Hunter Biden, covering any federal crimes committed or potentially committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024. Hunter Biden has faced federal charges related to tax violations and allegations of providing false information about his substance abuse issues on a firearm background check form. The move marks a shift from President Biden’s earlier statements that he would not pardon his son.

“Hunter was our tenant in Venice, CA. Didn’t pay rent for over a year. Tried to pay w/ art made from his own feces. Absolute s– bag,” Maguire wrote, adding in a follow-up post that the rent was $25,000 a month for the house, which is located on the canals in the city, Fox Business reported.

He also said that Hunter “changed the locks and used secret service to enforce. We had no access to the property.”

When a social media user asked if Maguire and his family had tried to evict Hunter Biden over the unpaid rent, Maguire responded by saying that the Bidens are “kind of a scary family to go after.”

Maguire’s allegations of unpaid rent would be a civil matter and are not covered by a presidential pardon, which applies exclusively to federal crimes. Maguire’s claim follows a previous allegation that Hunter Biden failed to pay a landlord tens of thousands of dollars in rent.

Last year, DailyMail.com reported, citing sources familiar with the situation, that Hunter Biden owed Sweetgreen CEO and co-founder Jonathan Neman $80,000 in back rent—equivalent to about three months’ rent for a $25,000-a-month house in Venice.

A federal judge has officially ended Hunter Biden’s tax case after Joe Biden pardoned his son, but not before harshly criticizing the president’s announcement about the clemency as misleading.

In a five-page order, U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi of the Central District of California, a Trump appointee, said that “representations contained” in the president’s news release about the pardon “stand in tension with the case record.”

The judge also said he didn’t agree with the president’s statement because it was hurtful to many public officials. He said that the pardon itself covered hours of unacceptable behavior in the future without permission.

“The President asserts that Mr. Biden ‘was treated differently’ from others ‘who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions,’ implying that Mr. Biden was among those individuals who untimely paid taxes due to addiction,” Scarsi wrote. “But he is not.”

He added that also Joe Biden’s claim that his son was “singled out” and “treated differently” made it sound like many people in the legal system, including Scarsi and the president’s own DOJ workers, did something wrong.

“Two federal judges expressly rejected Mr. Biden’s arguments that the Government prosecuted Mr. Biden because of his familial relation to the President,” Scarsi wrote. “And the President’s own Attorney General and Department of Justice personnel oversaw the investigation leading to the charges. In the President’s estimation, this legion of federal civil servants, the undersigned included, are unreasonable people.”

Finally, Scarsi said that it wasn’t his job to say whether or not Joe Biden’s pardon was legal, but the fact that the president signed it on December 1 and included action “through” that same day meant that the president was breaking the Constitution by letting Hunter Biden get away with future crimes.

Four Senate Republicans joined Democrats in delivering a rare bipartisan rebuke to President Donald Trump over trade policy.

The Senate passed a resolution by a vote of 51 to 48, aimed at blocking the Trump administration’s proposed tariffs on Canadian imports. The four Republicans who voted with Democrats were Sens. Rand Paul, who cosponsored the resolution, Susan Collins, Mitch McConnell, and Lisa Murkowski, CNN noted.

The move represents unusual bipartisan opposition to Trump within the GOP-led Senate and follows Trump’s criticism of the measure, where he urged Republicans to vote against it, the outlet noted.

The impact of the Senate vote may largely be symbolic, as House GOP leaders are not expected to pursue any efforts to rebuke Trump over his tariff policy—and had even moved earlier this year to block such a move. However, some House Democrats believe they may have found a way to bypass GOP leadership on the issue of tariffs, CNN said.

Rep. Greg Meeks of New York, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced on Wednesday that he plans to introduce a privileged resolution to force a vote in the House on tariffs. This procedural move allows him to bypass leadership and push for a floor vote.

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, who spearheaded the effort to force the Senate vote on blocking the Trump administration’s tariffs on Canadian imports, revealed on Wednesday that he had approached McConnell the evening before about joining the effort. Kaine said the Kentucky Republican pledged his support even before he could make the request, CNN said.

“I said, I want to talk to you about my Canadian tariffs bill. And you know, I didn’t even get to the question, and he said, ‘I’m with you,’” Kaine told CNN, describing how the conversation allegedly went.

During a Rose Garden ceremony announcing the tariffs, Trump predicted that, in the future, Americans skeptical of his actions will look back and understand that he made the right decision.

“This is one of the most important days, in my opinion, in American history. It’s our declaration of economic independence. For years, hardworking American citizens were forced to sit on the sidelines as other nations got rich and powerful, much of it at our expense,” the president began.

“This will be a very big moment,” Trump said. “I think you’re going to remember today. It’s going to be a free nation that we’re dealing with. We’re going to have a very free and beautiful nation. It’s going to be Liberation Day in America, and it’s going to be a day that, hopefully, you’re going to look back in years to come and you’re going to say, you know, he was right.”

On Wednesday, Wall Street opened lower, with the Dow Jones, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all slipping 2-3 percent ahead of the opening bell.

Wisconsin voted on Tuesday night to enshrine the state’s voter ID law in the state constitution.

Not only did the Badger State already require voters to have a photo ID to go to the polls, but that law has now been made a constitutional amendment. The measure was put on the ballot by the legislature, which is controlled by Republicans, to make sure that elections are safer.

It also keeps the law from being overturned in court when Democrats are in power, since changes to the constitution need to be approved by both houses of the legislature and a vote of the people across the whole state.

Republicans in Congress, President Donald Trump, and Elon Musk, the leader of DOGE, were all happy that the proposal passed, Fox News noted.

State Sen. Van Wanggaard, a Republican who co-authored the amendment, said, “This will help maintain integrity in the electoral process, no matter who controls the Legislature.”

Trump took to his Truth Social to celebrate the law being added to the state constitution after the vote was called.

“VOTER I.D. JUST APPROVED IN WISCONSIN ELECTION. Democrats fought hard against this, presumably so they can CHEAT. This is a BIG WIN FOR REPUBLICANS, MAYBE THE BIGGEST WIN OF THE NIGHT. IT SHOULD ALLOW US TO WIN WISCONSIN, LIKE I JUST DID IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, FOR MANY YEARS TO COME!” the president wrote.

Musk celebrated with a simple “Yeah!” while sharing the Associated Press’ call on X.

This comes as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and two prominent U.S. lawmakers filed a lawsuit against President  Trump over a recent executive order aimed at enforcing laws against illegal immigrant voting and regulations regarding election dates.

“The Executive Order seeks to impose radical changes on how Americans register to vote, cast a ballot, and participate in our democracy—all of which threaten to disenfranchise lawful voters and none of which is legal,” says the lawsuit, filed by Democratic Party attorney Marc Elias in federal court in Washington, The Epoch Times reported.

Trump’s March 25 order includes several key provisions, many of which focus on enforcing laws that prohibit noncitizens from registering to vote or casting ballots in federal elections. The order instructs the independent Election Assistance Commission to require proof of U.S. citizenship on its mail-in voter registration form.

It also directs federal officials to collaborate with the Department of Government Efficiency to review voter rolls and identify any noncitizens who may already be registered. Additionally, the order calls on the U.S. attorney general to prosecute individuals who have unlawfully registered or voted.

Another section of the order targets the practice in some states of counting mailed ballots that arrive after Election Day—a move the order claims violates federal law.

A separate provision directs the Election Assistance Commission to withhold federal funding from states that fail to comply with laws governing election dates, noncitizen voting, and voter registration.

The U.S. Constitution’s Elections Clause grants states the authority to set the time, place, and manner of elections, though it also gives Congress the power to override those rules.

“Outside of the Elections Clause, other provisions in the Constitution place certain requirements and limitations on the regulation of elections—but none allows the President to override the will of the States or Congress in this space,” the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit argues that the Election Assistance Commission is an independent agency beyond the president’s direct control, despite the fact that commissioners are appointed by the president. It also contends that federal law allows individuals registering to vote in federal elections to affirm their citizenship with a signature, rather than requiring documentation like a passport.

Alongside the Democratic National Committee, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) are also listed as plaintiffs in the case, the outlet reported.

The plaintiffs are asking the court to rule that the order violates both the Constitution and federal law and to block federal officials, including the attorney general, from enforcing it.

“The Democrats continue to show their disdain for the Constitution and it continues to show in their insane objections to the President’s commonsense executive actions to require proof of U.S. citizenship in an effort to protect the integrity of American elections,“ Harrison Fields, a White House spokesman, told The Epoch Times in a statement. ”The Trump administration is standing up for free, fair, and honest elections and asking this basic question is essential to our Constitutional Republic.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson refuted the notion of President Donald Trump seeking a third term in 2028, citing the Constitution’s prohibition against such a move.

While speaking to reporters, Johnson was asked about Trump saying in recent interviews that he’s open to being president for more than eight years.

“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said on Sunday while speaking to “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker. “A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current.”

A reporter asked Johnson about the comments and whether he saw a legal path to Trump winning, and if he would support the president if he ran again.

Johnson said there “is a Constitutional path,” but that road requires you to “amend the Constitution to do it.”

“And that’s a high bar,” Johnson said, adding that he believes Trump understands that.

“I understand why so many Americans do wish that he could run for a third term, because he’s accomplishing so much in this first 100 days that they wish it could go on for much longer,” Johnson said.

Johnson also said that there isn’t a movement to change the Constitution right now, but that at least one Republican has paved the way for Trump to run for office again.

A very high standard is needed to add or change something in the Constitution. Two-thirds of the House, the Senate, and three-fourths of the state legislatures would all have to agree.

As things stand, the country is almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats. Because of this, it’s very unlikely that this kind of amendment would pass, especially one that only wants to let Trump serve three terms.

Polling analyst Matt Towery has issued a stark warning to Democrats that they need to get control of their party back from the extremists, or they will go “completely off the edge.”

He appeared on the Fox News show “The Ingraham Angle” on Friday, where he compared former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern in 1972 to the current state of the Democratic Party.

“The Democrats right now look like they’re drifting more towards the direction of George McGovern in 1972. And if you recall that that didn’t go so well. And Walz seems to be the perfect replacement for McGovern, except he makes McGovern look a little more serious,” he said.

“This is a point where the Democrats who really know what they’re doing in their party, and that’s people … who have run campaigns over the years, know the real issues people are concerned about, have either got in control of this party or it’s going to drift completely off the edge,” the pollster said.

He added that the Democrats should stop attacking President Donald Trump in favor of promoting policies that assist Americans.

“They certainly can’t keep attacking Donald Trump, because the pollsters who really get it right about Trump, I’m one, there are others, such as Robert Cahaly at Trafalgar and many others, Rasmussen, who polls every day,” the pollster said.

“They’re showing the president’s approval ratings are staying up, not going down. This is not, and Signalgate has not done anything, either. Yeah, I think that they got to get a new direction,” he said.

Democrats are facing significant challenges from their own voters, as their support for the party has reached unprecedented lows.

A report from Politico, which dug into the recent polls, showed disaster for the Democrats, with the news organization saying the left-wing party should be “very afraid.”

“Congressional Democrats have typically enjoyed higher popularity with their voting base than their Republican counterparts. But the trauma of the 2024 presidential election defeat appears to have ruptured that relationship. A review of Quinnipiac University’s annual first-quarter congressional polling reveals that, for the first time in the poll’s history, congressional Democrats are now underwater with their own voters in approval ratings,” Politico said.

The poll showed that 49 percent of Democrat voters disapprove of congressional Democrats, while only 40 percent approve.

It is even worse when juxtaposed to last year, when 75 percent of their voters approved of them while only 21 percent disapproved.

Politico compared the Democrat collapse to that of the Republican Party before Trump and the MAGA movement came along on the heels of the Tea Party movement that preceded it.

What is worse for Democrats is that their voters do not know if they want to move left or right. A recent Gallup poll showed that 45 percent want the party to be more moderate, whereas 29 percent preferred a more liberal approach, and 22 percent wanted to keep the status quo.

The anger with the party from its voters is that there does not appear to be the same effort to “resist” Trump as there was during his first term.

Pete Buttigieg cleared the path for a much-anticipated 2028 presidential campaign this week after announcing that he will not run for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat.

Although he had previously stated that he was “looking” at trying to unseat retiring Democrat Gary Peters in one of the most competitive seats in the 2026 cycle, the former Transportation Secretary stated that he had “decided against competing” to be either governor or senator.

“I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race. I remain enthusiastic about helping candidates who share our values – and who understand that in this moment, leadership means not only opposing today’s cruel chaos, but also presenting a vision of a better alternative,” he wrote on X.

“While my own plans don’t include running for office in 2026, I remain intensely focused on consolidating, communicating, and supporting a vision for this alternative. The decisions made by elected leaders matter entirely because of how they shape our everyday lives – and the choices made in these years will decide the American people’s access to freedom, security, democracy, and prosperity for the rest of our lifetimes,” he added.A source briefed Politico early on about his decision and told him that his supporters framed his decision as a way to position him for a future presidential run while avoiding more challenging-to-win campaigns in 2026 and 2028.“The hardest decision in politics is to pass on a race you have a very good chance to win. Pete was an A-list recruit and would have been a formidable candidate for the Senate had he chosen to run,” longtime Democratic operative David Axelrod told Politico.

If Buttigieg won the seat in 2026, however, it would “almost certainly” take him out of the conversation for 2028, according to Axelrod.

“This certainly keeps that option open,” Axelrod added.

In addition, Buttigieg ran in the crowded 2020 Democratic primary, which former President Joe Biden won.

As of right now, Buttigieg is only trailing former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2028 presidential contest. But Harris has been considering whether to enter a more pressing political campaign.

According to reports, the unsuccessful 2024 presidential candidate has been considering running for governor of California in 2026 in an attempt to unseat term-out Governor Gavin Newsom.

Politico previously reported, citing two people familiar with her plans, that she is expected to decide on her next course of action by the end of the summer.

In a pivotal swing state that favored President Trump in November, Buttigieg’s announcement has Democrats scrambling to try and fill the seat being vacated by Peters.

In 2022, Buttigieg, a former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, moved to Michigan, the home state of his husband Chasten.

Soon after his announcement, political analyst Mark Halperin suggested that Buttigieg’s status as a “short and gay” man may hurt his chances of winning the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028.

On “The Morning Meeting,” Halperin noted that taller candidates typically win presidential elections nowadays and that an “openly gay” man has never won the presidency.

“Gotta say it — he’s short and gay. So you can say winning the nomination, being short and gay, is a positive. And for some people, maybe not short, but gay is a positive,” Halperin said. “And I know for some people there is, but there is going to be a premium for the party in 2028 on winning, right? It’s just like ’92. There are going to be a lot of voters who are willing to swallow stuff in order to win.”

“I’ve looked at the list of people who’ve won the presidency. None of them were openly gay — three were gay, but none were openly gay. And so it’s just a risk,” he added. “And in almost every presidential race — not every one, but in almost every presidential race in the television era — the taller person has won. The Republican nominee in 2028 will be taller than Pete Buttigieg.”

Sean Spicer, the former press secretary for the White House in Trump’s first term, pointed out that winning the general election is not the same as winning the Democratic nomination.

Halperin concurred, adding that he was only talking about the nomination.

“I’m torn on whether or not, because he’s gay, it would be a liability,” former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine chimed in. “I could see it being a liability with certain audiences. I think the question is, do you own it, or are you uncomfortable and hide from it?”

“But this is a time when electability is going to be a massive issue,” Halperin said.

President Donald Trump’s issues with the judiciary are continuing as U.S. District Judge James Boasberg extended his temporary restraining order to halt deportation flights using the Alien Enemies Act on Friday.

The order was set to expire on March 29, but Boasberg extended it to April 12, “or until further order of the Court,” Newsweek reported.

“The continued interference by an unelected activist judge in the foreign policy of the United States is a clear obstruction of President Trump’s constitutional authority and threatens the safety and security of all Americans,” a spokesperson for the Department of Justice told Newsweek.

On Thursday, after Boasberg was assigned a lawsuit regarding a journalist being added to a Signal chat with high-ranking defense officials, Trump lashed out at the judge.

“How disgraceful is it that ‘Judge’ James Boasberg has just been given a fourth ‘Trump Case,’ something which is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE. There is no way for a Republican, especially a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, to win before him,” the president said on his TruthSocial account the day before Boasberg extended his order halting deportation flights.

“He is Highly Conflicted, not only in his hatred of me — Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome! — but also, because of disqualifying family conflicts. Boasberg, who is the Chief Judge of the D.C. District Court, seems to be grabbing the ‘Trump Cases’ all to himself, even though it is not supposed to happen that way,” the president said.

“Is there still such a thing as the ‘wheel,’ where the Judges are chosen fairly, and at random? The good news is that it probably doesn’t matter, because it is virtually impossible for me to get an Honest Ruling in D.C. Our Nation’s Courts are broken, with New York and D.C. being the most preeminent of all in their Corruption and Radicalism. There must be an immediate investigation of this Rigged System, before it is too late!” he said.

Also Friday, the administration requested that the U.S. Supreme Court intervene in the contentious legal dispute, which involves Trump’s invoking the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law he utilized to swiftly deport suspected members of a Venezuelan gang deemed a terrorist organization.

The filing asks justices to reverse Boasberg’s order and uphold Trump’s use of the law to justify the rapid deportations. It is, thus far, arguably the most important case currently pending on the court’s docket, CNN reported.

“This case presents fundamental questions about who decides how to conduct sensitive national-security-related operations in this country – the President, through Article II, or the judiciary,” Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris told the Supreme Court. “The Constitution supplies a clear answer: the President. The republic cannot afford a different choice.”

The Trump administration’s argument, like that of other recent appeals, focused mainly on grievances about subordinate courts obstructing his path and issuing temporary orders that, while not resolving the president’s power challenges, have at least temporarily put some of his agenda on hold.

More than 200 Venezuelans were loaded onto three planes and flown to El Salvador, where they are being held in a maximum security prison, shortly after Trump invoked the law. Since then, the government has stated that some of those individuals were deported under laws other than the 18th Century Act.

The men were allegedly connected to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, according to the Trump administration.

The filing comes days after Chief Justice John Roberts appeared to criticize Trump directly after the president suggested that Congress could remove Boasberg by way of impeachment.

In the order, President Trump put Vice President JD Vance and the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Associate Staff Secretary, Lindsey Halligan, Esq. in charge of effectuating the policy changes.

He added: “The prior administration advanced this corrosive ideology.  At Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — where our Nation declared that all men are created equal — the prior administration sponsored training by an organization that advocates dismantling ‘Western foundations’ and ‘interrogating institutional racism’ and pressured National Historical Park rangers that their racial identity should dictate how they convey history to visiting Americans because America is purportedly racist.

“Once widely respected as a symbol of American excellence and a global icon of cultural achievement, the Smithsonian Institution has, in recent years, come under the influence of a divisive, race-centered ideology.  This shift has promoted narratives that portray American and Western values as inherently harmful and oppressive.  For example, the Smithsonian American Art Museum today features ‘The Shape of Power:  Stories of Race and American Sculpture,’ an exhibit representing that ‘[s]ocieties including the United States have used race to establish and maintain systems of power, privilege, and disenfranchisement.’  The exhibit further claims that ‘sculpture has been a powerful tool in promoting scientific racism’ and promotes the view that race is not a biological reality but a social construct, stating ‘Race is a human invention,’” the order continued.

“The National Museum of African American History and Culture has proclaimed that ‘hard work,’ ‘individualism,’ and ‘the nuclear family’ are aspects of ‘White culture.’  The forthcoming Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum plans on celebrating the exploits of male athletes participating in women’s sports.  These are just a few examples,” Trump said.

“It is the policy of my Administration to restore Federal sites dedicated to history, including parks and museums, to solemn and uplifting public monuments that remind Americans of our extraordinary heritage, consistent progress toward becoming a more perfect Union, and unmatched record of advancing liberty, prosperity, and human flourishing.  Museums in our Nation’s capital should be places where individuals go to learn — not to be subjected to ideological indoctrination or divisive narratives that distort our shared history,” he added.

“To advance this policy, we will restore the Smithsonian Institution to its rightful place as a symbol of inspiration and American greatness –- igniting the imagination of young minds, honoring the richness of American history and innovation, and instilling pride in the hearts of all Americans,” he said.

The changes included ensuring that “that future appropriations to the Smithsonian Institution prohibit expenditure on exhibits or programs that degrade shared American values, divide Americans based on race, or promote programs or ideologies inconsistent with Federal law and policy; and celebrate the achievements of women in the American Women’s History Museum and do not recognize men as women in any respect in the Museum.”

The New York Times Editorial Board is sounding the alarm for the Democratic Party.

In a newly published editorial, the left-leaning outlet argued that the party is in deep denial about the reasons behind its losses in the 2024 election—including the presidency, Senate, and House—and warned that its current strategies for recovery are not only misguided but outright delusional, Fox News noted.

“As comforting as these explanations may feel to Democrats, they are a form of denial that will make it harder for the Democratic Party to win future elections,” the Editorial Board’s column noted on Saturday. The title of the editorial declared simply, “The Democrats Are in Denial About 2024.”

The Times editorial comes amid historically low approval ratings for the Democratic Party. Recent national polls from CNN and NBC News, released earlier this month, show that just 29% and 27% of respondents, respectively, have a favorable view of the party. These figures mark the lowest approval ratings recorded by either outlet for Democrats since the early 1990s.

The NYT editorial board hammered “many party leaders” who have “decided that they do not need to make significant changes to their policies or their message” following their “comprehensive defeat.”

According to the board, Democrats have turned to a “convenient explanation for their plight,” claiming that forces beyond its control, like “postpandemic inflation” harmed its chances last year, as well as citing a need for better messaging — not a change of policies. “If Democrats could only communicate better, particularly on social media and podcasts, the party would be fine,” the board stated, summarizing part of their denial.

The editorial went on to note how new Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin is certain that the party has the “right message” but simply needs a way to “connect it back with the voters.” The board also noted that former Democratic vice-presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., recently told voters that “90 million” people stayed home during the last election, emphasizing that the party needs to rally their support.

The editorial highlighted Governor Tim Walz’s remark that Democrats don’t need to bother appealing to voters who supported President Donald Trump.

The board pointed to comments like that as clear signs the party is in denial—and cautioned that this mindset should worry not just Democrats, but conservatives and the entire country as well.

But then the board turned to its usual breathless hyperbole regarding President Donald Trump and how he’s supposedly the biggest threat to America.

“The country needs two healthy political parties. It especially needs a healthy Democratic Party, given Mr. Trump’s takeover of the Republican Party and his draconian behavior. Restraining him — and any successors who continue his policies — depends on Democrats taking an honest look at their problems,” the board wrote.

The board acknowledged that inflation can negatively impact the incumbent party in the U.S., similar to its effects on other countries, regardless of political affiliations. “Whether on the political right or left, ruling parties lost power in the United States, Brazil, Britain, Germany and Italy,” it wrote.

Still, the board mentioned that “incumbent parties managed to win re-election, including in Denmark, France, India, Japan, Mexico and Spain. A healthier Democratic Party could have joined them last year.”

It wasn’t just inflation that turned the tide against Democrats, the board wrote, pointing out how “voters also trusted Republicans more than Democrats on immigration, crime, government spending, global trade and foreign policy.”

The editors then debunked Walz’s voter turnout point, saying, “Nonvoters appear to have favored Mr. Trump by an even wider margin than voters.”

A technology adviser working for the Elon Musk-run Department of Government Efficiency made a stunning revelation about what he discovered at the Internal Revenue Service during an appearance with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Fox News.

In an interview with host Laura Ingraham, Sam Corcos, who is working at the IRS to modernize the tax collection agency’s software and computer systems, said that the upgrade is more than three decades behind schedule and billions of dollars over budget — with no resolution yet in sight.

“I’ve been brought in to look at the IRS modernization program, as well as the operations and maintenance budget,” Corcos told Ingraham. “This is a huge program that is already 30 years behind schedule and $15 billion over budget.”

“The IRS has some legacy infrastructure… old mainframes running COBOL and Assembly, and the challenge is how do we make that a modern system? Virtually every bank has done this, but we’re still using a lot of those old systems,” Corcos continued.

“Typically, in industry, this takes a few years and maybe a few hundred million dollars. We’re now 35 years into this… It was supposed to be delivered in 1996,” he added.

“A huge part of our government is collecting taxes. We cannot perform the basic functions of tax collection without paying a toll to all these contractors. We really have to figure out how to get out of this hole. We’re in a really deep hole right now,” Corcos noted further.

Bessent then said that the real issue isn’t with IRS staff but with agency contractors.

“Many of the employees are fantastic. It’s this consultant group. They’re like a boa constrictor. They’re like a python,” Bessent said. “They’ve constricted themselves around our government, and the costs are unbelievable. They’re being passed on to the American taxpayer.

“The entrenched interests, the consultants, the Democrats, mainstream media, they just want to blow this project out of the water,” Bessent added. “This is the opposite of government efficiency, not elimination, not extinction. Sam and his crew are making it more efficient to work for the American people. So what’s wrong with it working better, cheaper, faster, and with more privacy?”

Following a string of incidents that seemed to target Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturer, the FBI announced that it has established a task force to “crack down on violent Tesla attacks.”

For months, violent and vandalized incidents have targeted Tesla vehicles and infrastructure, such as charging stations and privately owned automobiles, CNN noted.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is spearheading the Trump administration’s contentious attempts to reduce federal agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency and the federal government’s workforce, has been the target of protests at Tesla showrooms.

The FBI warned the public over the weekend to be on the lookout for any indications of a potential attack on Tesla dealerships or entities associated with Tesla, such as people monitoring or attempting to enter Tesla properties or threatening the company online.

In a post on X, FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson stated that the new task force will investigate anti-Tesla attacks in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Charges against those who are alleged to have thrown Molotov cocktails at Tesla’s properties are part of the Justice Department’s recent announcement that it will take action against the growing number of attacks against the automaker.

“This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice,” FBI Director Kash Patel said.

“There is no doubt that shooting bullets into Tesla stores and burning down Superchargers are acts of terrorism,” Musk reaffirmed on Monday on his X social media platform.

Musk responded to the violent attacks on Tesla facilities last week by writing, “Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks,” in an X post.

Last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a new warning to far-left Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett after she made a series of threatening comments toward Musk and other Republican lawmakers.

During an interview on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, Bondi accused Crockett of “threatening lives” with her rhetoric against Musk after left-wing activists targeted Tesla dealerships.

“After she said that about Elon, she said, ‘well, I didn’t mean violence,’ but however, your words have consequences. And what happened after she said that about Elon Musk? She’s a Texan in her own home state after she said that this morning, three explosive devices were found in Austin, Texas. So she needs to unequivocally denounce the violence,” Bondi said.

“She must apologize immediately, not only to all Texans, but to our country, to the American shareholders of Tesla, because she is promoting violence. And then you showed the clip of what she said about Senator Cruz. I believe she probably will be censured by Congress for saying that. People don’t learn. She’s using her public persona, her public platform to increase her followers, to increase her significance. And she is threatening lives, safety. When she did this at Tesla, people’s lives are in danger. This is America. We’re in a free country, and she’s yet encouraging this violence in our country. Think of all the lives that could have been jeopardized in Texas just today by her words and what she’s done, but she didn’t stop with that. She continued on with Senator Cruz. She has to apologize immediately and denounce the violence,” Bondi added.

The attorney general continued her criticism of Crockett’s rhetoric, saying the far-left lawmaker is calling for “further insurrection” despite being previously warned to “tread very carefully.”

“It’s interesting that these people wrap themselves in the First Amendment, but they hate Elon Musk because he’s practicing the First Amendment and … But again, words have consequences. And she does need to tread very carefully. We don’t know what else she’s saying, what else she’s doing,” Bondi declared.

She added, “But she needs to immediately apologize and denounce this because, even in her home state, violence is happening after she made these statements. It’s dangerous. She has to know it’s dangerous, and she’s calling for further insurrection on her birthday this weekend.”

People who own or work for Tesla have been attacked, vandalized, and doxxed in recent months.

Multiple cars were burned at a Tesla service center in Las Vegas last week.

Spencer Evans, the special agent in charge of the FBI office in Las Vegas, told reporters that the event “certainly has some of the hallmarks” of a terrorist attack, but it was still too early to say for sure. The Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI is looking into what happened right now.

An internal Trump administration memo reveals an extensive plan to cut government-wide staffing, including slashing the Treasury Department’s workforce by one-third and reducing the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s staff by half.

The memo, drafted a week ago, comes amid upcoming Reductions in Force that are expected to significantly decrease government payrolls. Trump has directed federal agency heads to devise their own plans for downsizing, with wide-scale layoffs scheduled to begin next month, according to the Washington Post.

Agencies where stiff cuts are being made include the Small Business Administration, at 43 percent, and HUD, at 50 percent, according to the memo, per the Post.

Cuts at the Education Department—where Secretary Linda McMahon has been instructed to reduce staffing by 50%—are expected to save $6 billion, while an 8 percent reduction at the Justice Department is projected to yield an additional $1.9 billion in savings.

The National Science Foundation, a longtime bipartisan favorite for funding, is slated for a 28 percent cut, and the Commerce Department is facing a 30 percent reduction.

At the Treasury Department, which includes the Internal Revenue Service, cuts are expected to reach 30 percent.

Trump cabinet officials have been lauding the cost-cutting measures implemented by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency at cabinet meetings and other public events.

They include Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, who told DailyMail.com that “the bottom line is that the entire cabinet is aligned, is supportive and understands the president’s vision that is being effectuated by Elon Musk and in partnership with all of the agencies, of course USDA, one of the largest agencies, over 100,000 employees … some of the Reductions in Force that we’re doing. We will never stop working for the American people.”

She did not address the emails sent to fired probationary employees that stated, “based on your performance, you have not demonstrated that your further employment at the agency would be in the public interest.” Notably, some of the dismissed probationary employees were involved in food inspections, a critical area as the administration works to manage a bird flu outbreak.

“It’s no secret the Trump Administration is dedicated to downsizing the federal bureaucracy and cutting waste, fraud, and abuse,” Harrison Fields told DailyMail.com when asked to confirm the contents of the memo.

“This document is a pre-deliberative draft and does not accurately reflect final reduction in force plans. When President Trump’s Cabinet Secretaries are ready to announce reduction in force plans, they will make those announcements to their respective workforces at the appropriate time,” he added.

At the Department of Health and Human Services, Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced a restructuring that will reduce the workforce by 20,000 employees, cutting 10,000 positions in the process. The agency plans to decrease its staff from 82,000 to 62,000, a move it claims will save $1.8 billion.

“The restructuring will address this and serve multiple goals without impacting critical services,” his agency noted in a previous statement.

According to an HHS fact sheet, the plan includes cutting 3,500 full-time positions at the Food and Drug Administration, 2,400 positions at the Centers for Disease Control, and 1,200 at the National Institutes of Health. Musk discussed the potential cost savings with Bret Baier on Fox News, though he did not specify how much had been saved “so far.”

“At a high level … we want to reduce the spending by eliminating waste—reduce the spending by 15%. Which seems really quite achievable. The government is not efficient and there is a lot of waste and fraud,” he told the Fox anchor.

He also said amid some high-profile mistakes such as firing and then hiring back nuclear safety workers. “When we do make mistakes we correct them quickly and we move on,” Musk noted.

A noted conservative journalist and broadcaster said last week that a key Supreme Court justice could be “on the thinnest of ice” should he decide against allowing President Donald Trump to use his executive authority to invoke a centuries-old law to quickly deport suspected foreign gang members who are in the country illegally.

During a segment last week, SiriusXM star Megyn Kelly openly fretted about how Chief Justice John Roberts could be the one conservative on the bench who would side against the president, especially after Roberts uncharacteristically took the president to task earlier this month in a public statement rebuking his call to impeach a lower court judge at the center of the case.

In a series of rulings over the past few weeks, Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court of Washington D.C. has issued- and extended- temporary restraining orders halting the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members to a high-security prison in El Salvador.

Trump has argued that after designating members of the gang as terrorists, he has the authority to invoke the law, passed in 1798, to rapidly deport them without court hearings and other due process considerations.

Other legal experts have argued that the Supreme Court examined the law following its invocation during World War II and ruled in 1947 that not only do presidents have absolute authority under the statute, but their actions cannot be challenged by any court, including the nation’s highest court.

Nevertheless, Kelly told political analyst Mark Halperin that she believes Roberts could be leaning towards siding against Trump.

“John Roberts, above all, knows if he hands down a ruling telling the commander-in-chief that the nine men and women in black robes have the final say over what is perceived as a military threat unleashed on us by a foreign government, he’s on the thinnest of possible ice,” the host said. “He’s so obsessed with the court. I just can’t see him wanting to do it.”

Halperin said that he believes the Supreme Court decision could favor the president even though, on occasion, Roberts votes against Republicans.

“Well, he [Roberts] is an interesting figure because he does vote sometimes against Republican presidents, including this one,” the analyst said. “He does care about the integrity of the court, the reputation of the court … I think that they’re going to rule some against the president in some form, and there are going to be some that are result-oriented. They don’t all rule on the merits, sad to say.”

“I think in this case and in the ones that are comparable, as you suggested, as has been mentioned, deference to the commander-in-chief on this stuff is something where there’s clearly popular will. You can find that. You don’t need to look outside the walls of the Constitution to find that,” Halperin added.

“They’ll probably vote with the president on this one. But, Roberts has got to expedite these things,” he added. “It doesn’t make any sense for America to not expedite them. These should be on the fastest of tracks. They should be on a track like Bush v. Gore, not treated at all like normal cases, because it’s a campaign promise and it’s happening now.”

Earlier on Friday, Boasberg extended his temporary restraining order to halt deportation flights. The order was set to expire on March 29, but Boasberg extended it to April 12, “or until further order of the Court,” Newsweek reported.

“The continued interference by an unelected activist judge in the foreign policy of the United States is a clear obstruction of President Trump’s constitutional authority and threatens the safety and security of all Americans,” a spokesperson for the Department of Justice told Newsweek.

The federal judge tasked with deciding the Signal group chat case “cannot be objective,” Attorney General Pam Bondi stated Thursday, adding that “many judges need to be removed.”

The appointment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg to hear the Signal case, in which Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President Vance, and other officials discussed a military strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen, was described by Bondi as a “wild coincidence against Donald Trump and our administration.”

The chat was accidentally shared with Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic, which resulted in its public disclosure.

In a different case involving deported Venezuelan migrants who were allegedly members of the Tren de Aragua gang, Judge Boasberg was the judge who decided against the Trump administration.

Boasberg had maintained that for the courts to review the situation, planes should be reversed to return those who are being deported.

Trump and other administration officials have criticized Boasberg for the issue and have even demanded that he be removed from office. U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts rebuked that, stating that when there are disagreements with court decisions, appeals should be used rather than impeachments.

“He shouldn’t be on any of these cases. He cannot be objective. He’s made that crystal clear,” Bondi said of Boasberg.

President Trump has also slammed Boasberg, recently calling the Democrat-appointed judge “disgraceful.”

“How disgraceful is it that ‘Judge’ James Boasberg has just been given a fourth ‘Trump Case,’ something which is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE,” the president wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Boasberg is now overseeing four lawsuits about the second Trump administration, including the addition of a Signal-related lawsuit against important Trump officials. He was given each case at random.

Due to the Signal chat, American Oversight, a watchdog group, filed a lawsuit. According to the group’s submission, Trump officials violated the Federal Records Act by neglecting to preserve Signal messages about the recent attack on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

In her Fox News remarks Thursday, Bondi said, “You know, these judges are taking personal attacks to it, at many of the Cabinet secretaries. And these judges across the country — and again, they think they have authority, but it’s going to be short-lived, because these cases are going to get to the Supreme Court very fast.”

“We’re doing everything we can,” she added.

During her daily show last week, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly expressed her belief that U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts could be in a precarious position, depending on his decision regarding President Donald Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to swiftly deport illegal migrant gang members.

After a lower court judge ruled Trump’s use of the centuries-old law was improper — a decision upheld by a federal appellate court on Thursday — the administration filed an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court. Kelly indicated on her SiriusXM program that Roberts may be the one Republican-appointed judge who would side against the president.

Her guest, political analyst Mark Halperin, said that he believes the Supreme Court decision could favor the president even though, on occasion, Roberts votes against Republicans.

On Friday, Boasberg extended his temporary restraining order to halt deportation flights. The order was set to expire on March 29, but Boasberg extended it to April 12, “or until further order of the Court,” Newsweek reported.

“The continued interference by an unelected activist judge in the foreign policy of the United States is a clear obstruction of President Trump’s constitutional authority and threatens the safety and security of all Americans,” a spokesperson for the Department of Justice told Newsweek.

On Thursday, after Boasberg was assigned a lawsuit regarding a journalist being added to a Signal chat with high-ranking defense officials, Trump lashed out at the judge.

“How disgraceful is it that ‘Judge’ James Boasberg has just been given a fourth ‘Trump Case,’ something which is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE. There is no way for a Republican, especially a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, to win before him,” the president said on his TruthSocial account the day before Boasberg extended his order halting deportation flights.

“He is Highly Conflicted, not only in his hatred of me — Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome! — but also, because of disqualifying family conflicts. Boasberg, who is the Chief Judge of the D.C. District Court, seems to be grabbing the ‘Trump Cases’ all to himself, even though it is not supposed to happen that way,” the president said.

The liberal-leaning Wisconsin Supreme Court has responded to a request by the state’s Democratic attorney general to halt billionaire Elon Musk’s handing out $1 million checks ahead of a crucial Tuesday election.

All seven members — 4 liberals and three conservatives — rejected AG Josh Kaul’s emergency request on Sunday to prevent Musk from continuing.

The filing came as Musk was set to host an America PAC town hall in Green Bay on Sunday night. There, Musk handed over $1 million checks to two voters who signed a petition against “activist judges.”

“The reason for the checks is that, it’s really just to get attention,” Musk said while holding a gigantic check. “It’s like, we need to get attention….somewhat inevitably, when I do this….it causes the legacy media to, like, kind of lose their minds.”

Wisconsin voters elect Supreme Court justices for 10-year terms, and Musk was there to support candidate Brad Schimel, a Republican and former state attorney general.

In his filing, Kaul asked the state high court to reach a decision “as soon as possible but no later than the planned event on Sunday evening.” The AG argued that Musk’s giveaway violates state election laws, though the two recipients of Musk’s forthcoming checks have already cast their ballots in the election.

“The offer to pay $1 million to two Wisconsin electors, conditioned on their having voted in the upcoming election, is a violation of Wisconsin Statute § 12.11, which prohibits offering ‘anything of value’ in exchange for “vot[ing] or refrain[ing] from voting,” the attorney general’s filing stated, per Fox News.

“Wisconsin law prohibits offering anything of value to induce anyone to vote. Yet, Elon Musk did just that,” Kaul falsely claimed.

In response, Musk’s attorneys maintained that the payments are “intended to generate a grassroots movement in opposition to activist judges, not to expressly advocate for or against any candidate.”

Schimel told “Fox News Sunday” that he does not control “any of the spending from any outside group, whether it’s Elon Musk or anyone else.”

“That’s exactly what I’ve committed to anybody, whether it’s President Trump, Elon Musk or any donors and donors or supporters or voters in Wisconsin,” the candidate added. “That’s my commitment.”

In a statement on X, Musk wrote that “entrance is limited to those who have signed the petition in opposition to activist judges.”

“I will also hand over checks for a million dollars to 2 people to be spokesmen for the petition,” Musk added.

Musk and voter registration activist Scott Presler have been working overtime to motivate Republicans to turn out for the election, with the GOP majority in the U.S. House literally at stake.

America PAC, initially formed to support President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, is spending $1 million to back conservative Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel’s canvassing and field operations.

Another Musk-backed group, Building America’s Future, purchased $1.5 million in commercials to support the conservative candidate.

His opponent is liberal judge Susan Crawford, and whoever takes the race will decide the balance of power in the important swing state’s highest court.

That matters because a Crawford victory means the court’s current 4-3 liberal majority will remain intact and justices will likely approve a gerrymandering of the state’s congressional districts that will cost Republicans at least two U.S. House seats, potentially flipping the chamber to Democrats in 2026.

The state is split between a Democrat governor and a Republican legislature, so the Supreme Court “is the center of the action,” University of Wisconsin-Madison political scientist Barry Burden told CNN last month. “It’s become a place where a lot of hot-button issues people care about get decided.”

Meanwhile, Presler — who has been credited with helping flip Pennsylvania red during the last election cycle by registering tens of thousands of new Republican voters — is warning that there could be a repeat of a blowout 2023 election in the state in which liberal-leaning Janet Protasiewicz beat conservative candidate Dan Kelly and flipped the balance of the court.

“I tried to warn people in 2023, and here is what I’m saying now: if Wisconsinites don’t pay attention to this race, history is going to repeat itself, and you’re going to have this court stay under Democrat control,” Presler told Breitbart News earlier this month.

The election is Tuesday, though early voting has been going on for around two weeks.

President Donald Trump announced that he has appointed Sara Carter as the next Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)

“As our next Drug Czar, Sara will lead the charge to protect our nation, and save our children from the scourge of drugs,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Carter thanked the president and said she was thrilled to be joining the administration when she re-posted Trump’s Truth Social post on X.

“It is truly an honor to serve President Donald J. Trump and be part of an administration committed to putting America first,” Carter wrote. “America’s greatest resource is our people and it will be up to each and every one of us to do our part – I promise you I will never stop fighting.”

As a journalist, Carter contributed to Fox News and covered the border extensively, especially when immigration laws were more relaxed under the Biden administration.

Because of the enormous amount of drug and human trafficking that is taking place, she called for stricter border regulations.

In a post on X, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., congratulated Carter. Blackburn said the new drug czar would “fight tirelessly” to keep Americans safe, and he praised Carter’s efforts on the border.

“Congratulations to @SaraCarterDC on becoming Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy! Sara is an expert on the border and the crisis it has created for drug trafficking. This issue has put Tennesseans in harm’s way for far too long, but Sara will fight relentlessly as Drug Czar to keep our loved ones safe,” Blackburn wrote.

Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Lt. Chris Olivarez also congratulated Carter and praised her appointment, saying it was “GREAT for the country.”

“CONGRATULATIONS, @SaraCarterDC!!! I genuinely appreciate your friendship and overwhelming support for Texas over the years. This is an excellent opportunity for you to effect change and help so many families who have lost loved ones due to deadly illicit drugs. This is GREAT for the country,” he wrote.

President Trump has said that America is “back” while he talks about his many accomplishments, some of which have been controversial, since taking office two months ago.

Through a series of executive orders and actions, Trump has quickly increased his executive powers, questioned long-standing government policies, and cut the size of the federal workforce by a large amount during his second term as president, Fox News reported.

A count from Fox News also shows that Trump has signed about 100 executive orders since his inauguration on January 20. This is a much higher rate than any recent president had in their first few weeks in office.

Even though the president says “a lot of great things are happening,” the most recent polls show that many Americans don’t agree with his optimistic view of his job.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll done this past weekend (March 22–23) found that 46% of those asked liked Trump, while 51% didn’t think he was doing a good job of leading the country. The poll asked just over 1,000 adults across the country questions.

The poll was mostly done before the controversy over top White House national security officials talking about sensitive operational details of an upcoming U.S. military strike in Yemen on the messaging app Signal, which may have been against federal law.

There were a few more votes for Trump in the most recent national poll from March 14–17 by Fox News. With 49% saying they liked the job the president was doing and 51% saying they didn’t, Americans seemed to have mixed feelings about it.

The most recent national polls, which inquired about the president’s approval ratings, reveal that Trump’s ratings remain relatively low. Since the beginning of his second term, when the average of Trump’s polls showed that the president was approved of in the low 50s and disapproved of in the mid-40s, his numbers have gone down a little.

The economy and worries that Trump’s tariffs on America’s top trading partners will cause more inflation are both factors in the drop. For the majority of his presidency, former President Joe Biden’s approval ratings were significantly impacted by this major issue.

The poll from Fox News shows that 49% of people agree with the president. This is the same level of approval that Trump had at his all-time high in Fox News polls, which he last reached in April 2020, near the end of his first term in office. This is six points more than where he was at this point in his first term (43% approval in March 2017).

Most polls showed that Trump’s approval ratings were almost always negative during his first term in office.

“Keep these numbers in perspective. The numbers he’s averaging right now are still higher than he was at any point during his first presidency,” veteran Republican pollster Neil Newhouse told Fox News.

Daron Shaw, who serves as a member of the Fox News Decision Team and is the Republican partner on the Fox News Poll, highlighted that “the difference is largely a function of the consolidation of the Republican base.”

“The party’s completely solidified behind him,” added Shaw, a politics professor and chair at the University of Texas, who noted that Trump’s current rock-solid GOP support was not the case at the start of the first term, when he had troubles with some Republicans.

It was also made clear by Newhouse that Trump’s Republican “base is still strongly behind him.”

Inmates who lose at trial may only appeal the decision if they can demonstrate that reasonable judges could disagree with the decision or that the case should proceed, according to the federal law governing state prisoners’ attempts to seek post-conviction relief in federal courts.

As long as at least one appeals court judge votes to allow them to appeal, the Supreme Court declined Monday to rule on whether prisoners can make that appearance, SCOTUS Blog reported.

In the case of Lance Shockley, who was found guilty and given the death penalty for the 2005 murder of a Missouri highway patrol officer who was looking into a deadly vehicle accident in which Shockley was the driver, Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented from the denial of review. Sotomayor’s six-page dissent was joined by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Among the orders from the justices’ private meeting on Friday, March 28, was the brief, unsigned order rejecting review.

Shockley argued that his right to effective legal representation under the Sixth Amendment had been infringed by his trial counsel. Shockley’s attorneys were unaware of the book until after Shockley had been found guilty, despite the fact that the foreman at his trial had self-published a “fictionalized autobiography” that described the protagonist’s attempt to obtain “vengeance” after his wife was killed by a drunk driver but had only received a probationary sentence.

When they finally realized it, prior to Shockley’s sentencing, they did not capitalize on the judge’s recommendation that they gather evidence to back up their motion for a new trial. For instance, they could have asked the foreman if he had discussed the novel with other jurors, which he had.

Shockley went to federal court after his attempts to get relief in the state courts failed. His appeal and post-conviction relief petitions were denied by the district court.

Shockley then appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, which denied his request for permission to appeal by a vote of 2-1. A second judge joined the dissenting judge in voting for rehearing, but the full court of appeals rejected his request to have that decision reconsidered.

In November, Shockley visited the Supreme Court and requested the justices’ opinions. He contended that the judges’ disagreement over whether to consider his appeal showed that reasonable judges could disagree on how to handle his claim, as required by federal law. He also emphasized that, given that disagreement, his request to appeal would have been granted by four other courts of appeals.

Missouri asked the justices to avoid getting involved in the conflict. According to the argument, Congress and the Supreme Court have “left it to the circuit courts of appeal to decide how they handle applications for certificates of appealability.” It stressed that any discrepancies in the way the courts of appeals handle these applications are “merely differences of administration on a procedural matter” and do not merit the attention of the justices.

The justices rejected Shockley’s request for review after deliberating it at five conferences.

According to her, Sotomayor would have granted review and permitted Shockley’s appeal to proceed. “There are good reasons to think that Congress conditioned the right to an appeal on a single judge’s vote,” Sotomayor argued in her dissent.

According to federal law, she noted, the majority of cases “must be resolved by the appropriate ‘court of appeals,’ or by ‘a majority of the number of judges authorized to constitute a court or panel thereof.’” “A circuit justice or judge can grant permission to appeal.” She pointed out that Congress could have done the same for post-conviction cases.

According to Sotomayor, allowing an appeal to proceed provided that at least one judge votes in favor of granting permission to appeal “also promotes efficiency.” The decision to grant permission “should not be a contentious one,” she wrote, “because appeals should proceed so long as they present a debatable issue.”

It “is difficult to see how an attorney’s decision not to call witnesses in support of a credible mistrial motion, when invited to do so by the presiding judge in a capital murder trial, could fail to constitute ineffective assistance of counsel,” Sotomayor said in response to Shockley’s appeal.

She claimed that when the court of appeals declared that the district court’s opposing ruling was “not even debatable,” it was “plainly” incorrect.

A number of high-profile petitions for review that have been pending for weeks were once again left unanswered by the court.

These petitions challenged Maryland’s ban on military-style assault rifles, Rhode Island’s ban on large-capacity magazines, and the transfer of federal land in Arizona to a mining company that the San Carlos Apache Tribe considers a sacred site.

On Friday, April 4, the justices will reconvene for a private conference. On Monday, April 7, at 9:30 a.m., orders are anticipated from that conference.

The Department of Justice has charged a man with bombing a Tesla dealership and is seeking a 20-year prison sentence, according to a report.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that suspect Cooper Frederick has been charged with firebombing a Tesla dealership on March 7 in Loveland, Colorado. The FBI pursued the suspect, who was arrested in Plano, Texas, the Washington Examiner reported.

“I’ve made it clear: If you take part in the wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, we will find you, arrest you, and put you behind bars,” she said. “Today, I am proud to announce that the Department of Justice has unsealed federal charges against another Tesla attacker. All of these cases are a serious threat to public safety; therefore, there will be no negotiating.”

“Let this be a warning: You can run, but you cannot hide. Justice is coming,” Bondi noted further.

The attorney general warned earlier this month that she would begin charging vandals who damage Tesla vehicles with domestic terrorism, bringing the first three suspects to face these charges on March 20.

“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences,” a statement from Bondi on March 18 said.

“We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes,” the statement added.

Tesla vehicles, charging stations, and dealerships have come under attack in recent weeks, with incidents ranging from graffiti vandalism to firebombings. The wave of attacks follows growing outrage from left-wing activists over Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s prominent involvement in the Trump administration.

Republicans have condemned the violence as domestic terrorism and are advocating for its prosecution as such. The FBI has recently launched a task force to investigate instances of vandalism against Tesla.

Tesla’s stock has dropped by 40% in the past year. It peaked at over $428 per share before Trump’s inauguration in January but is currently sitting at $259 as of Monday.

Musk, who is spearheading the Trump administration’s contentious attempts to reduce federal agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency and the federal government’s workforce, has been the target of protests at Tesla showrooms.

The FBI warned the public over the weekend to be on the lookout for any indications of a potential attack on Tesla dealerships or entities associated with Tesla, such as people monitoring or attempting to enter Tesla properties or threatening the company online.

In a post on X, FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson stated that the new task force will investigate anti-Tesla attacks in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. “This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice,” FBI Director Kash Patel said.

“There is no doubt that shooting bullets into Tesla stores and burning down Superchargers are acts of terrorism,” Musk reaffirmed on Monday on his X social media platform.

Musk responded to the violent attacks on Tesla facilities last week by writing, “Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks,” in an X post.

Bondi also issued a warning last month to far-left Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett after she made a series of what appeared to some to be threatening comments toward Musk and other GOP lawmakers.

During an interview on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, Bondi accused Crockett of “threatening lives” with her rhetoric against the billionaire CEO after activists targeted Tesla dealerships.

“After she said that about Elon, she said, ‘well, I didn’t mean violence,’ but however, your words have consequences. And what happened after she said that about Elon Musk? She’s a Texan in her own home state after she said that this morning, three explosive devices were found in Austin, Texas. So she needs to unequivocally denounce the violence,” Bondi said.

“She must apologize immediately, not only to all Texans, but to our country, to the American shareholders of Tesla, because she is promoting violence,” she added.

A judge is preventing President Donald Trump from rescinding the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) amnesty that former President Joe Biden’s deputies granted to 530,000 Venezuelans, including gangsters from Tren de Aragua.

Edward Chen, a U.S. District Court judge from California who was nominated by former President Barack Obama, claimed that the migrants’ economic activity gave them legal status independent of American politics and laws.

“They have have higher educational attrainment that most U.S. citizens (40-54%)  have bachelors degrees), have higher labor participation rates (80-96%) [because they are younger, on average] … and annually contribute billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and pay hundreds of millions, if not billions, in Social Security taxes,” the order stated.

“This is what we mean by judicial tyranny. Biden mass imported illegals from Venezuela, including criminals, gave them welfare and social security numbers. President Trump won an election promising to end the invasion. A rogue marxist judge just ordered Biden’s amnesty continued,” responded Stephen Miller, Trump’s policy chief.

Trump’s intention to begin terminating TPS status next month was thwarted by the judge, who contended that the illegal migrants would suffer if American laws were enforced: “[The court] finds that the Secretary’s actions threaten to inflict irreparable harm on hundreds of thousands of persons whose lives, families, and livelihoods will be severely disrupted. Cost the United States billions in economic activity and injures public health and safety in communities throughout the United States.”

“At the same time, the government failed to identify any real countervailing harm in continuing TPS for Venezuelan beneficiaries. Plaintiffs have also shown they will likely succeed in demonstrating that the actions taken by the Secretary [Kristi Noem] are unauthorized by law, arbitrary and capricious, and motivated by unconstitutional animus. For these reasons, the court grants plaintiffs’ request to postpone the actions pending the filing of adjudication merits of this case,” the judge added.

In actuality, the 530,000-person migrant influx into the US has increased housing costs and decreased wages for American families. Increased economic pressure to prevent the formation of new families and the birth of American children is one outcome.

Some of the migrants from Venezuela have preyed on Americans who have been murdered, like Laken Riley, and their continued presence will result in more crimes against regular Americans.

Among the 530,000 are some members of the criminal gang Tren de Aragua, who have been linked to numerous crimes across the country, including the seizure of at least one apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado.

“The judge is completely disregarding the law … this is a judge who wants to be president rather than judge,  responded John Miano, a lawyer who specializes in migration cases.

The TPS law says: “There is no judicial review of any determination of the Attorney General with respect to the designation, or termination or extension of a designation, of a foreign state under this subsection.”

According to Miano, senior judges from the circuit courts, appeals courts, and the US Supreme Court should issue orders to restrain the rogue judge. He added that one of their duties is to oversee the country’s lower judges.

“They don’t want to do it because they all want to preserve that [unconstrained legal] power for themselves. [So] the circuit courts don’t want to be slapping down [lower] judges because they don’t want to be slapped down by the [higher] Supreme Court,” Miano declared.

“They don’t manage [lower judges], and this is why we have chaos in the courts,” Miano added.
